Returning Home – Transiting Through Vancouver

The journey home, though long, is filled with warmth and longing.

The bright April sun, this season of longing, deepens with the blooming of North Carolina’s azaleas and roses.

Transiting through Vancouver, the beautiful Canadian mountains are majestic and magnificent; Lake Louise in Banff National Park beckons from afar!

The northern frontier of Alaska, with its glaciers, fjords, whales, salmon, brown bears, eagles…has long been etched in my dreams!

And my distant hometown, the sea of ​​clouds of Alishan, is rushing toward me, calling out.

I am not a passerby, I am a returning home.

返鄉的旅途，雖然遥遠，但也帶著親切和盼望，

四月的艷陽天，這個想念的季節，也伴随北卡杜鵑玫瑰的開放，日益濃厚；

過境温哥華，美麗的加拿大山脈，雄偉壯觀；Banff 國家公園的Louise 湖正遠遠的召喚！

北方的邊疆-Alaska, 冰原，峽灣，還有鯨魚，鮭魚，棕熊，老鷹…….. 久映在夢中！

而遥遠的故鄉，阿里山雲海 ，正向我奔來，呼喚；

我不是過客，是歸人。

Days in the Mountain Retreat

I can never resist the allure of the mountains and streams.

Coming from the bustle of the world, Sun Moon Lake seems remarkably tranquil;

The lake’s waters are deep green, shape with the crescent moon curved.

In a lover’s eyes, a hazy vision, like the sun or the moon.

 

The Rapeseed flowers blossoms that cover the mountain are in full bloom.

The roar of logging has been replaced by the quiet sound of a small train.

The small town of Checheng appears between the bald cypress and the pond.

The gentle breeze of the sun brings me back to the Showa era

 

‘Tan Tian Shuo Di’: city dwellers are bullied by country bumpkins.

The fish pond is not the ‘Fish Pond Farmers’ Association,’ but the driver claims it is.

Simple village women are unlike the flamboyant women in the city.

Among the areca palm trees, there’s no Xi Shi to be found.

 

Days in the mountain retreat are filled with too much fog, too much wind and rain.

總離不開群山溪水的誘惑，

我從塵囂來，日月潭顯得十分寧靜；

潭水深綠，月牙彎也彎，

情人眼中，迷迷濛濛，如日如月，

那滿山的油桐花，也正奔放了。

 

當年伐木的巨響，換成小火車靜靜的躺著，

車埕小鎭在落羽松和池塘間呈現，

日風徐來，仿佛回到昭和時代。

 

‘潭天說地’，城市佬被鄉巴佬欺負，

魚池不是‘魚池農會’，但司機說是；

純樸的村婦，不似城市中的花枝招展，

檳榔樹林立，卻覓不到西施。

 

山居的日子，有太多的迷霧，太多的風雨。

Czech is a very beautiful country with excellent sceneries and elegant architech of buildings and castle.

People are very nice and friendly. It costs Euro$1.00 for using bathroom.

The King in the Castle

You came from gloomy Prague,

Yellow rapeseed fields are blooming in May,

You passed by my favorite spa town, Karlovy Vary,

Arrived in Pilsen again and drank a lot of beer.

Finally, in the cold wind and rain, you arrived at my castle, Cesky Krumlov,

 

That was the era of the glorious Renaissance.

The green Gothic Round Tower spires, Beneath the vast Bohemian sky,

The bells of churches and monasteries are ringing slowly, crossing the blue sky to welcome your arrival.

Across the moat, the Vltava’s water is rushing,

The ancient gray stone steps turn toward the evening,

My soldiers watched you from the great walls,

Your rapid footsteps sound like the neighing of horses, conquering cities and territories,

 

Attack the square in the center of the city,

Walking through the narrow streets,

Looking for my medieval-Renaissance romance.

The orange-tiled palace overlooks the ancient city,

The Baroque palace is brightly lit,

Walk through the black marble doorway and find yourself surrounded by walls decorated with murals and tapestries;

the richly decorated lobby with its stucco work, gilded details and ornate chandeliers.

The house has large windows, ornate mirrors, and a collection of paintings, portraits, and weapons;

the four corner windows are open, and the patio under the red tiles is full of blooming flowers!

 

You come from faraway country to share my little world;

your infinite attachment travels through time and space,

and is constantly confided to me in the flowing river.

五月的黄色油菜花田正在開放

你們經過我喜愛的温泉小镇Karlovy Vary

又到了Pilsen 喝了不少啤酒

终于，寒風冷雨中來到我的城堡Cesky Krumlov，

 

那是輝煌Renaissance的時代，

高聳的哥德式绿色尖塔，直入雲霄，

教堂修道院缓缓響起，叮噹的鐘聲，划過蔚藍的的天空，迎接你們的到来；

越過謢城河，水流急淌，

灰暗的石階向晚，

我的士兵在巨高的城牆上眺望，

你們急促腳步聲彷如達達的馬啼，攻城略地，

攻入城中心的四方廣埸，

巡迴在狭小的街弄，

尋找我的，中世纪文藝復興的浪漫。

 

橘色的磗瓦宫殿遠眺古城，

Baroque宫殿内燈火輝煌，

巡迥黑色大理石門道，置身于壁畫，掛毯裝飾的牆壁；

裝飾華麗的大廳，那裡有灰泥作品、鍍金細節和華麗的枝形吊燈；

un Moon Lake is a high mountain freshwater lake located in Yuchi Township, Nantou County, Taiwan. It is located in the Puli Basin in the geographical center of Taiwan, surrounded by lush green mountains and with an altitude of about 736 meters.

日月潭（Sun Moon Lake）是位於台灣南投縣魚池鄉的高山淡水湖泊，坐落在台灣地理中心的埔里盆地群中，周圍被翠綠的山巒環繞，海拔約736公尺。

Today, the emerald green lake water ripples with the waves

Green bamboo swaying in the spring breeze against the white clouds on the top of the mountain

Come here, everyone is happy!

The whole family enjoys the trip together with smiles

Lovers’ loving eyes flicker

Old people also walk, like me

Electric bikes for all ages

A child and his sister were in the same car, laughing.

Young man and old mother in the same car, love

Only women are in groups, where are the men together?

 

White people, Southeast Asians, all kinds of people are here

Bicycles swing around the lake

Endless bends

Occasionally, the sound of a flute breaks the silence, and the green waves resonate

The Ci’en Pagoda, named to remember the love of mother, is always in sight no matter where you are,

……..shining brightly on countless visitors day and night.

 

Away from city lives, living in seclusion in the mountains

The bells of Xuanzang Temple echo and remind me of a poem,

 

At night, birds are singing and the sky is full of stars,

The lake and mountain fogs make me hard to sleep,

The bell rings at midnight to my hotel.

The days watching the sea are not boring.

Take a walk along Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf.

Under the bright sun, with a gentle breeze,

The old man next to me (actually younger than me), Chen Lei’s singing voice is loud,

With an autistic daughter,

He said,

I lost my job last year and received some severance pay. The government gives my daughter NT$3,000 per month.

Every morning and evening, I take my daughter to the pier for a walk.

看海的日子，也不覺得無聊，

散步淡水漁人碼頭，

艷陽下，清風徐來，

旁邊老頭（其實比我年輕），陳雷歌聲響，

帶著自閉症女兒，

去年失業，領一些遣散費，政府每月給女兒三千，

每天早晚帶女兒來碼頭散步，

背著音樂咖叭，咚咚響。

可以出國旅遊？錢要省得花，每天吃飯都要錢，存錢來養老，

將來二老走了，女兒只好隨風去，

人生無奈，比上不足，比下有餘；

互相道別，留下震動，

音樂咚咚響，漸遠去…..

At Tamsui, Taiwan

 

If you visit Tamsui, be sure to bring an umbrella.

The bright May sun already brings a hint of summer heat.

On the banks of the Tamsui River, Guanyin Mountain lies in front, Datun Mountain and Yangming Mountain in the background.

 

People young and old (and even puppies in strollers) come here to enjoy the natural beauty.

There are students just finishing school nearby, tourists from Japan,

professional photographers, and even those from afar who have visited their hometown!

Street performers, amateur musicians, and beautiful singing add to the lively atmosphere. Donate a little.

Writers find inspiration over coffee.

A wide variety of delicious foods abound.

 

Families and friends sit on the riverbank, chatting casually.

Here, there are the laughter and tears of lovers.

The calm, broad river soothes countless broken hearts.

 

The setting sun sinks into the sea, soundless and silent,

like a benevolent light, illuminating the earth forever.

如果你到淡水，一定要帶把傘，

五月的艷陽天，已經有暑意了。

淡水河邊，前方是觀音山，後方是大屯山和陽明山，

來這裡的人，有老有少（還有在婴兒車内的小狗），享受大自然美景，

有附近剛剛放學的學生，日本的遊客，

或者專業攝影師，還有遠方來的故鄉遊子！

街頭藝人，業餘的音樂家和美好歌聲，增添熱閙和情趣，捐點小錢吧，

作家一邊喝咖啡，一邊激發靈感，

各種美食，多如過江之鲫。

 

家人或朋友們坐在河堤，輕鬆交談，

在這裡，有情人的歡笑，也有情人的眼淚，

平靜寬闊的河流，也撫慰了無數破碎的心靈。

 

夕陽入海，無聲無息，

如慈暉永映，照亮大地，

衆人屏息，捕捉美好的剎那！

 

 

永遠的懷念

-和弟弟，弟妹，及他的朋友拜訪宜蘭縣武塔和金洋國小有感

 

四十多年前 ，我們來到宜蘭的武塔和金洋，

懷抱着年輕的熱誠，和山地小朋友一起相處 ，学習，和辦康樂活動，

在群山環繞中，空氣是如此的清新，

没有有煩雜的車聲，只有小朋友的歡笑聲 ，

我們擠在小小的教室，吃飯，睡覺，

試著瞭解他們的生活和困難，告訴自己能够作什麽，

我們無私的付出 ，換来終生的友誼和美好的回憶。

 

如今我們友誼仍然埾固，一夥回到武塔和金洋，

我們有共同的任務，重新拾回當年的記憶，

啊！學校設施比以前更多，井井有條！

新校長學有專長，年青有為，細心地介绍学校各方面的成長，

小学生有優良的学習環境，不僅保留泰雅族的傳统風俗文化和生活方式，

也有專業的教師和良好的外語教室，

他們在学習，運動之餘，也訓練種菜，打獵，和射箭的技能。

 

我們高興地和校長合照，也夜宿附近的民宿，由以前的小学生，現在已是警察退休的好友經營，

他準備了很多山珍美味，並和我們歡聚，時光飛逝，我們又回到以前的時光。

 

夜已深，四周一片寂静，群星閃爍，

臨別依依，知道明天又要別離，

深深體會，在這個動盪的世界，

此地仍擁有，如同我們以往的感受，人類特有的純真。

 

40年後的我們，又知道：那夢中的思念永不褪去。
